LIVE BOARD has expanded its digital out-of-home (DOOH) footprint with the launch of “SHIBUYA POPUP BOARD,” a new digital advertising screen located at the heart of Tokyo’s world-famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing.

The screen, installed at the former Sankyori Pharmacy site facing the iconic intersection, officially began operations on June 9 and will run through August 3. Situated directly in front of JR Shibuya Station’s Hachiko Exit, the location provides advertisers with access to one of Japan’s busiest pedestrian environments, attracting commuters, shoppers and international visitors.

Measuring 4 meters wide by 2 meters high, the single-screen display is positioned at pedestrian eye level, offering strong visibility and prolonged exposure in a district widely regarded as one of the most influential digital advertising hubs in the world.

A key feature of SHIBUYA POPUP BOARD is its impression-based trading capability. Using location data and analytical technologies from NTT Docomo, advertisers can purchase inventory based on Visibility Adjusted Contact (VAC), a metric designed to estimate the number of people who actually viewed an advertisement.

The VAC methodology aligns with global OOH measurement standards by combining opportunity-to-see data, pedestrian movement patterns, visibility factors and environmental conditions to provide a more accurate measure of audience exposure.

The former Sankyori site has been operating as a rental event and activation space since 2025, hosting a variety of brand experiences and promotional campaigns.

LIVE BOARD said the launch underscores its commitment to advancing data-driven OOH advertising and creating new value for brands through measurable media solutions.

The company currently operates more than 61,500 digital advertising faces across Japan, making it one of the country’s largest DOOH media networks.
